Call for nominations for the 2024 IAVCEI award for VOLCANO SURVEILLANCE AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT

Dear colleagues,

We officially open today the call for nominations for the 2024 IAVCEI award for VOLCANO SURVEILLANCE AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT, which will be delivered in February 2024 during the COV-12 Conference in Antigua (Guatemala).

Nominations will have to be submitted before the 3 November 2023 and sent to the IAVCEI President with copy to the IAVCEI secretariat. Details on nominations and selection process are given on our website.

The IAVCEI award for VOLCANIC SURVEILLANCE AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT (VSCM) honors the personnel from Institutions and Organizations responsible for monitoring volcanoes (volcano observatories and/or other institutions) that have made a remarkable contribution to the mitigation of volcanic risk. Criteria for eligibility include: successful volcanic hazard assessment and volcanic risk mitigation efforts, effective volcano surveillance and eruption forecasting, and/or effective crisis management.

The VSCM award is presented every two years on the occasion of Cities on Volcanoes Conferences. The previous awardees are listed here.
