Deadline extended to 20 August 2021 to register to the CVC Training School 2021! The 2021 edition (6-18 Sept 2021) is virtual but, by attending, you get a special discount for the in-person 2022 edition held in Nicolosi (Sicily), on the Mount Etna slopes. The School is open to everybody with priority for graduate students, Ph.D. students, and early career researchers. More info is available at the website www.cvctrainingschool.org.

Attending the school you will:

i) get an overview of the state of the art techniques and methods for detecting and monitoring the volcanic and convective clouds,

ii) learn about the different instruments and platforms allowing us to get the best performance in detecting such kind of clouds,

iii) directly analyze the data,

iv) be involved in real applications as early warning systems and modeling,v) be informed about new missions planned for solving the main issues in these fields.

This training school supports creating a new generation of scientists specialized on monitoring and detection of atmospheric extreme events to help ensure the safety of the citizens. Most of the young researchers are usually focused in a single subject (e.g. convection or volcanic eruption) and they are not in touch with final users to get their feedback. This school will thus be the perfect opportunity for broadening their horizons and for creating useful connections.

During the CVC 2022, all the topics will be deepened, and the participants will get an added value from

– a field measurement campaign they will be part of;

– an excursion to the Etna craters;

– laboratories using professional software applied to real data;

– presenting their research to the other participants and to the lecturers.

This training school is supported and organized by researchers of the Università di Padova, the INGV, and the National Research Council.

For the poster with more details, click here.

Photo: from the 2019 edition of the CVC Training School (copyrights: S.
